Black Heritage Month

Every February, people across Canada participate in Black Heritage Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. As a Catholic Community, we are called to live in solidarity. This requires that we learn from and about our brothers and sisters in Christ. We remind ourselves that being the Body of Christ means that we honour each person as a beloved member of our human family.

Black History is a conversation we must all be present for as it is everyone’s history. It is a time to learn more about these Canadian stories and the many important contributions African-Canadians have made to the settlement, growth and development of Ontario and Canada. Let us celebrate our Canadian heroes and be reminded that through perseverance we can all achieve great things in our life.
