SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK

The week of October 3-7 is designated as Safety Awareness Week at YCDSB.  To ensure that staff and students are familiar with the standard operating procedures, we will be reviewing the Crisis Response procedures and practicing our drills. The last Wednesday of each September is Rowan’s Law Day (#RowansLawDay).  On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, schools across Ontario recognize this law by educating and engaging students and staff in activities that increase awareness about concussions and to share Rowan Stringer’s story.

Orange Shirt Day – September 30, 2022

WHAT IS ​ORANGE ​SHIRT DAY?

Orange Shirt Day was inspired by the experience and story of Phyllis Webstad whose shiny new orange shirt was taken away on her first day of residential school. Her story and Orange Shirt Day has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
